    give leeway

Unfortunately, another fundamental issue also arises from this isolation. Problems that might otherwise have been observed by the architect at his weekly or bi-weekly site visits or project meetings go unnoticed until much later, giving the architect little leeway in mitigating their effects or working on less costly ways of resolving them.
what does " give leeway" mean?

    Re: give leeway

The problems go unnoticed. This does not give the architect much leeway.
