    go in the kitchen

    Dear teachers,
I just saw a piece of subtitle, i.e. "go in the kitchen"
If I were, I would say "go to the kitchen".
For more examples; go to the room(I would not say "go in the room")

    Your opinion please. Thank you.

It depends on the context really, "go in the kitchen" could be correct.

    Re: go in the kitchen

I've just had my tea. I'm about to go into the kitchen to wash up.

It was a joke based on "wash up" -- as if someone were dirty. In AmE would not normally "wash up" after tea.

We speakers of BrE normally wash up - wash the dirty cups, dishes, etc, after- using them.
