The hotel is located in California, making it a wonderful place for seagoers.
Is this the same as "The hotel is located in California, which makes it a wonderful place for seagoers."?

It means the same but it's a rather strange sentence. California is a very large state and quite a lot of it would not be remotely wonderful for seagoers! Talking of which, seagoers is rather a strange word - do you mean people who like travelling by boat?

"The hotel being located in California makes it a wonderful place for seagoers."
Does it work?

What is the source of your quotation, James?

If it is your own sentence, you need to say 'sea lovers', but sea lovers booking into the hotel and discovering it was in Susanville, CA, 306 miles from the sea, would find it less than wonderful.
