with the restriction that = on condition that

    Hello everyone!

The other day I came across thee following sentence:

This may be achieved with the restriction that the pipes have a certain distance from each other.

Does "with the restriction that" mean the same as "on condition that" or "subject to the fact that"?

This is what I think but I may be wrong.

    Thank you.

Could it have been written by a non-native speaker? It doesn't sound very natural to me.

I think it was likely written by a non-native speaker. JACEK1 seems to be a marine engineer, and most of his questions are about marine technical writings, almost all of which seem to have been written by non-native speakers.

It's nice of you to think so highly of me, but I am not at all a marine engineer. I work for a ship repair yard. I am just a self-taught translator. Sad to say, we have very little contact with native speakers of English.
