    my favorite color

    Hello.

Please imagine here's my favorite pen. I like the color of the pen.

    1. It(=The pen) has my favorite color (on it).
    2. It is in my favorite color.
    3. It is painted in my favorite color.
    4. Its color is my favorite.
    5. It is my favorite color.

Do the sentences above all work?
(I'm not sure about #5. I don't feel it would really work.)

    Thank you.

    Re: my favorite color

Please simplify the question. Do you mean the colour of the ink or the the colour of the pen itself?

Thank you, probus, and I'm sorry about the ambiguity.

I meant the color of the pen itself.

I find #5 the only natural one. The others don't work. We don't say that pens are in a colour, or that they are painted in a colour. #4 is just an unnatural construction. #1 suggests that something extra has been written or drawn on the outside of the pen and that extra thing has been done in your favourite colour.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Thank you, ems.

Does #5 convey my intended meaning (=the pen itself is my favorite color, not the ink.)?

    Thank you again.

    Re: my favorite color

You would probably have to be more explicit if you wanted your reader/listener to know that you meant the colour of ink inside the pen rather than the plastic/metal that the pen is made of. However, many pens are actually made of plastic/metal of the same colour as the ink which, of course, makes it much easier to pick the pen you want from a pack or a drawer. Others are made of clear plastic but have a small lug in the end clearly showing what colour the ink is. If you think of a pen which is made of clear plastic but has a red lug in the end and red ink in the tube, then this pen is both "a clear pen" and "a red pen".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: my favorite color

If the pen comes in a range of colours, we could say that one is in my favourite colour IMO.
