Hi, i need a help with one sentence. I am translating a text (christian text - just for clearing, i do not want to discuss a christianity) and there was a following sentence: I suffered the pain for my righteousness.
I would like to ask about the meaning of this sentence. I am from Slovakia and I think righteousness is a positive adjective (it means goodness). So why somebody suffer the pain for it? I hope you understand my question.
Thanks very much for your answer. I appreciate your help
Righteousness is a noun. If someone adopts a position based on their faith that conflicts with the views or laws in the society around them, they might suffer.
