First he ran down stairs, then - along the passage and finally (lastly?) to the back of the stage where there was Jane's dressing-room.

Yes, "lastly" will work. I would revise your sentence a bit.

First, he ran down stairs, then along the passage, and finally/lastly to the back of the stage where Jane's dressing-room was.

You should write 'downstairs' or 'down the stairs'.
