What is the new with our previous discussion?

You and someone have some discussions about an issue for a long time. You have not seen him for days. You want to ask him what is the new with that issue. Would it be correct to say what is the new with our previous discussion?

I don't think so. It doesn't sound idiomatic to me.
    I am not a teacher.

I would work without "the" before "new". "New" is an adjective.

There can be nothing new with a previous discussion. You might perhaps ask "Are the any developments on what we discussed earlier?"
