    Trip In Walking

I don't know if sentence 2 is okay:

1 "He tripped walking up the stairs."
2 "He tripped in walking up the stairs."

Is sentence 2 different from sentence 1?

Yes it is different; it is incorrect.

    Re: Trip In Walking

I then found this in some dictionary ( thefreedictionary.com/in ), where definition 3b has this example:

"During the act or process of: tripped in racing for the bus."

    So the dictionary is wrong?

I found the entry. That dictionary is rarely wrong. But that use is strange for me.
