    Was/were

    Dear teachers

When there is a structure of "noun" and "noun", are they supposed to be plural, and I should use "were" as in the following sentence?

"Mitigation and sentencing was/were adjourned to March 7th and Mr Yeung was remanded in custody"

    Please advise

    Holden
