    Would you please tell me which option could best fit here? I'm stuck between No.1 and No.2 I have problem with understanding the difference between simple past and present perfect. ( I would choose the latter)

    The simple past of BECOME is became, so #4 is not possible.

    I don't know what #4 was, but "has" is correct.
