Can one use:
1-The letter was well written.
instead of:
2-The letter was written well.
1 could mean that the letter had been written well. 'Well written" could be an adjective there. But I wonder if one would not need a hyphen if the adjectival meaning was intended.
I never use sentences like 1 instead of sentences like 2.
