Hi everyone,

I have a problem understanding correctly the following sentences. Please let me know if my interpretation is correct.

1. "When I got to the garage my car had been repaired." (it was repaired BEFORE I got to the garage)

2. "When I got to the garage my car was repaired." (as far as I understand "past simple+past simple" is used for actions that happen one after another, so I understand this sentence like this: first I got to the garage and then the car was repaired (meaning that I sort of waited a bit after I arrived).

Thank you.

Your understanding is correct. I would use a comma after 'garage'.
