Hello,

I have a few adults who come to me for conversation lessons and I also have a few Skype students. The problem is that I never know what to talk about and how to structure the lesson if I'm not following a specific book. I found many places online that offer conversation topics and starters but they are all so boring and really lack structure.

What do you suggest? I have a really hard time trying to figure out what to do every day I have conversation lessons!

Thanks

May I ask why you have accepted the conversation and Skype students if you have no idea how to teach them?

I am not sure what structure you are looking for as conversation lessons are fairly flexible. You migth find the Dogme approach helpful, though, for example http://designerlessons.org/tag/dogme/ Some TED talks can lead to a lot of discussion as well. Or, are you asking about 1-2-1?
