    Question may have done or could have done?

    ---I can't find my keys anywhere. I saw them on the table this morning.
    ---I think you ________ them in your car.
    A. may have left B. could have left

    Which one is acceptable for the situation above? And what is the difference between the two? I always can't tell! Thanks for help.

    Hello, roseriver1012.

    Both "may have + past participle" and "could have + past participle" are used to express the possibility in the past.
    For this reason, A and B are both acceptable, in my opinion.
