(the) English grammar, (the) English tenses

Should we use the definite article? E.g. I want to know (the) English grammar / (the) English tenses better.

If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

It would be more natural to say

'I want to understand English grammar better (no 'the').

'I want to know more about English grammar' (no 'the).

'I want to understand (the) English tenses better' ('the' is optional, with no difference in meaning).

'I want to know more about (the) English tenses.'

And one more question here, so that I wouldn't start a new thread, is it OK to say British culture or the British culture in similar sentences?

In the above contexts, with my rephrasing of your originals, omit 'the'.
