I don't know.
"The nickel tour" is a fairly common expression that means "a quick look around" -- you only paid a nickel, so don't expect much.
For example, if you come over to visit me in my new house, I may offer you "the nickel tour" meaning I'll show you around my new house.
Does this author mean "I'm going to give you so much information, it's worth 100 times a nickel tour"? I just don't know. It's not an expression I've ever seen used.
