[Vocabulary] Looking for a few words for my PhD proposal

Dear Reader,

I am writing a PhD proposal where I express my interest in software development for music therapy.
I wonder whether you could help me with some wording:

1) I would like to use a word that expresses that the software should work
- on mobile devices (tablets, smartphones) and
- and can be used with affordable EEG hardware*.

* Brain Computer Interface (BCI) which measures brainwave data and transmits it to the mobile device wirelessly.


The context:


The aim:
To develop a missing word software where sonified EEG is used as a circular input for the mind in order to facilitate therapeutic training.


Any help is greatly appreciated.

Software is not countable, so you don't develop "a software."

Why not say you want "to develop software for mobile devices..."?

I am afraid there is not one word to describe this, unless you want to be specific and say "Android software" or "iOS software."

There certainly isn't one adjective that describes software for mobile devices and that the software works with inexpensive EEG machines. You are going to have to state that separately.

I don't know what "circular input for the mind" is supposed to mean.

My guess is that it is supposed to mean some form of biofeedback. The EEG waves are converted into sound and played to the subject, thus modifying the EEG waves. I agree it's not a good way to describe this. "Used as a feedback mechanism" might work.

Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, it is bio-feedback software on OSX that I would like to further develop for Android and iOS.
The EEG hardware I investigate are not designed for serious clinical use, however some like the Emotive are mentioned in academic publications. The idea is to have the developed software working with a variety of affordable EEG devices in order to have the project accessible for the general public.

Instead of 'circular input' I was thinking of using 'virtuous cycle'.
The measured EEG is sonified with using Neuro-feedback Training (NFT) and gamin principles.
The generated music should be used as a feedback for the mind in a virtuous cycle to facilitate the desired training.

'A software' or 'software'.
I only thought of emphasising that it is only one software I work on.
I could probably use 'an application' instead or leave the 'a' out and keep it more general.

You still can't say "one software". It's a piece of software, a program, an application, a software application, a software program ... but not a software. Similarly, you can't point to a computer (or a hammer) and say it's a hardware.
