usage of ',' in the following sentences

    Hi All,

In the following sentence: "When talking about the Marine Protected Areas, Sylvia said, ‘To me, there is only one area that we need to protect, that is the entire ocean!’", should I use ',' or '.' after "...Sylvia said"? Also, do I need the ',' before "that is the entire ocean!".

    Thanks

    1. You should use a comma (,). If you used a period (.) that would end the sentence, which you don't want to do at that point.
    2. I would use a semicolon (;) or a dash ( - ), or a comma plus 'and'.
