    got off the taxi

We usually say 'get out of a car'. However, I saw 'She fell down on the ground after she got off the taxi' in a book.
Is it correct to say 'got off the taxi' ?

    I am not a teacher.

We use "get off" for buses, trains, trams and planes because we "get on" them in the first place.

We "get in" a taxi so the natural words to use at the end of the trip are "get out".

I saw it in a grammar exercise book written by non-native speakers.

I saw once it in the exercise book as well!
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.

Not a teacher nor a native speaker.

It's unusual- I wouldn't use it. Was it a regular taxi or some sort of shuttle service? If it's a normal taxi, then it's an odd usage.
