    the meanig of 'stake'.

"Campaign officials want to encourage their supporters to vote. How can they do that?

One obvious method is to emphasize the stakes; another is to decrease the cost and burdens,

by making it easier for people to get to the polls"

What does 'the stakes' exactly mean in this sentence?

    Re: the meanig of 'stake'.

It means "what is at risk", as if one were in a poker game.
