    Comma

    A question about comma:

1 "He planned everything down to the last detail."
2 "He planned everything, down to the last detail."

How are the two versions different?

    Re: Comma

That's an optional comma and doesn't make any difference to the meaning.

    Re: Comma

Commas are tough. The best way, in my opinion is to examine the sentence with and without the comma. Unless you can find a grammatical reason or a meaning difference, the comma is optional. In this case, at most, it signals a dramatic pause.
