"They require that immigration be restricted by means of quatitative limits and quotas"
I have a question regarding the use of "be+verd" form. It's been confusing me all the time when there is a sentence of "subject+be(infinitive)+verb".
How does the meaning of the sentence change if I say "They require that immigration is restricted by means of quatitative limits and quotas"?
Many thanks :)
Both forms can be used in BrE. The present subjunctive is less used in BrE than in AmE.
Welcome to the forums, Juliet.
Please note that a better title would have been They require that immigration be restricted.
