    look / look like

I'm considering buying a piece of clothes on an Internet shopping site.
A picture of the item shows that the item is gray but the thread used in it is not gray.
So I'm going to send a question to the seller.
Dose the following question make sense? Is "like" necessary?

Hi, could you tell me the color of the thread? It looks (like) white or gray, but I'm not sure.

    Re: look / look like

    I am not a teacher.

It's not necessary. In fact I prefer the sentence without it.

    Re: look / look like

Is it incorrect to add "like" or is the sentence just more natural without "like"?

It looks white or grey, but I can't tell.

"It looks like white or grey" isn't incorrect but it's less natural than the two I used at the start of this post.

Note that you are not going to buy "a piece of clothes". You are going to buy "a piece/an item of clothing".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
