"play cards"

Hi,

Metaphorically, can I say "God is the one who shuffles cards and you are the one who play (the) cards".
Does the sentence sound natural with or without "the"?

No. And "play" should be "plays".

It would be more natural like this: "God is the one who shuffles the cards and you are the one who plays them".

But note that this requires either a conjunction ("... the cards, and you play...) or some other form of punctuation besides a comma.
