    John had all his money stolen from his hotel bedroom.

    What does the above sentence mean? It seems to me that John has told someone to steal his money. I mean he intentionally got it done. After all, I believe it may also mean someone has stolen John's money; which means John lost his money. I collected t from a website.     No. All of John's money was stolen. The sentence means that John experienced that fact.

    Did you read what was written before the example you posted? Sometimes "had" is a causative verb. Sometimes it is not.
