Would it work to use the word "homage" figuratively as in "When I get in to Brussels, I'm going to do homage to local beers."?

Yes, that's OK.

I agree with Raymott. One could also say "pay homage to". I think that is more common.

I would pay homage to the local beer(s).

Just a random question. If I were undecided about what beers I was going to try, could I just say "beers" without the definite article?

It depends on the context.

I think he means in the context which he presented - that context in which I corrected his "local beers" to "the local beers".

I would accept it with or without "the".

I am not a teacher.

I would probably use "the" in this context.

However, I'm obviously missing something because I don't understand this whole exchange regarding Raymott's correction. Where did it go?

I think something has been edited out. Raymott's first post now just says "Yes, that's OK". I have a feeling that before it was edited, it perhaps included a correction of "local beers" to "the local beers".

I appear to have edited Raymott's first post and I honestly cannot remember why.

As you may have noticed, we mods sometimes correct minor typos in the posts of others to avoid confusion and/or distracting posts pointing out the typos. 99% of the time this is helpful - and very often people don't notice it. We try not to edit posts after they have received a response.

Just occasionally we slip up.

My first post read:

"

Yes, it's OK."
There was absolutely no interference necessary with my post. A one-line quote was deleted for some bizarre reason that has never been explained. I understand that moderators have a job to do. My opinion is that this obsessive over-interference with other people's posts has become almost pathological.
