Will you, please, tell me English fairy tales, which have given birth to winged words, idioms, expressions, locutions containing anthroponyms (proper names)... e.g. This is no Alice in Wonderland

How about "The Ugly Duckling", for instance?

I would call the Arthurian tales myths or legends rather than fairy tales. Most of our 'English' fairy tales came from Andersen or the Brothers Grimm.

I am not a teacher.

Although King Arthur is the legendary defender of Britain against the Saxon invader, the French lay claim to him as one of theirs on the strength of Brittany being part of his kingdom and the writings of Chrétien de Troyes adding much to the legends.

Since I've been in France I have heard more about King Arthur than I ever did back in Blighty.

So, there are no original English fairy tales?

I am not a teacher.

I think there are, or at least according to this site there are.

I've never heard of 90% of them myself, though.

It is indeed in the list Roman provided.

PS: Right under "The Story of the Three Bears", which is one of the few I knew before reading the list.
