    games

A music teacher says to a rock star, his ex-boy friend and father of their child:

You may have time to waste playing games but I have grades to tabulate.

What does she mean by "playing games" . Thank you.

    Re: games

If they had a child together, probably one of them is female - so should it be "her" ex-boyfriend?

(It's possible they were a same-sex couple with a surrogate mother, but I think his/her confusion is more likely the issue here.)

We need the context to be sure. In general, the teacher means "You and I aren't talking as mature adults should talk to each other because you are trying to have fun with me, or make fun of me, or trying to get me to feel or do something for your benefit."
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Could he be a wannabe rock star, and she has grown up and has work to do while he dreams?
