    metalinguistic negation

I couldn't find the meaning of 'metalinguistic negation' in any dictionaries.
I tried to search any relating articles but still do not clear about it's meaning.

    Re: metalinguistic negation

    Hello, njt2009.

I've also done some research on the subject on the Internet.
I think you'll need to read this: http://www.press.uchicago.edu/ucp/bo...bo3640613.html
I've found this, but I'm not smart enough to understand what it says. (I don't understand it well even if I read the Japanese explanation for it.)

I'm sorry, but this is all I can do for you.

    Re: metalinguistic negation

Why were you researching the phrase in the first place?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: metalinguistic negation

Isn't it a way of objecting to something that has been said- not the truth of all it, but some aspect?

A: I met her at the train station.
B: You met her at the railway station. (Some people prefer the term railway to train here.)
