Dear Teachers and mothertongue speakers
I had to replace some ordinary verbs with some phrasal verbs but I didn't have any clues to help me...I tried to do the test anyway...can you please tell me if the sentence make sense and if a native speaker would ever say them this way?

1)You should complete this form and return it with you payment.

And I wrote: You have to fill in this form and send it back with your payment.
2)My father has abandoned his attempt to get the university to abolish tuition fees.
And I wrote: My dad has given up going to university to do away with the tuition fees.
3) It was necessary to reduce our spending after we discovered that oru rent was increasing.
And I wrote: We had to cut back on our spending after we found out that our rent was going up.
4)Please observe local customs at the temple and remove your shoes before entering.
And I wrote: Please pay attention to local customs at the temple and take off your shoes before going in (walking in).

Thanks for your help.

Re: Phrasal Vebrs

We can't correct homework here. But:
Changing "father" to "dad" isn't part of a phrasal verb exercise.
You've changed the meaning of 2. I don't think that would be part of the exercise.

Re: Phrasal Vebrs

Dear ... mothertongue speakers

You mean 'native English speakers'.

'Mother tongue' (two words) means 'native language'. 'Mothertongue' is a non-standard word.

Actually, I don't want you to correct the sentences...I'd like you to give me your opinions about them...not corrections...could please help me with this, as you are native English speakers?

I don't want you to correct the sentences. I'd like you to give me your opinions about them not corrections.

Please note my corrections to your punctuation.

Having your English corrected comes with the territory on this forum. Other students are reading your question and want to know whether it's grammatically correct.

That is the part of the homework we cannot comment on. Your phrasal verbs are, so to speak, the guts of the matter, and this is for you to do and submit to your teacher for marking and comment.

Re: Phrasal Vebrs

Pay attention to a custom does not mean the same as observe.
