Hi guys

Im trying to find the proper way of using full stops with speech marks.

I always thought it was after the speech marks but someone told me its in the speech marks....does this depend if its mid sentence or the quotation is at the end?

Does the same apply for commas?

Thanks

There's a style difference between BrE and AmE on this subject.

They are called "quotation marks" in AmE. I have never heard them called "speech marks."

I have come across the phrase but they are always "quotation marks" to me in BrE too.

Since you're trying to get your punctuation right, try not to use meaningless strings of full stops.

In BrE, if it's speech, put the punctuation inside. If it's a quote, you can put the full stop at the end of a sentence or other punctuation outside if it is not part of the quote.
