    About grammar question

In the sentence "The people who sat in on our class yesterday are teacher from a Taiwan university.", why we can't turn the relative clause "who sat in on our class yesterday" into "the people sitting in on our class yesterday"?

"The people sitting in our class yesterday were teachers from Taiwan university" is fine.

    Welcome to the forums, horizonincumt.

Please note that a better title would have been The people who sat/the people sitting.

    Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

Was the singular form of 'teacher' a typo?
