    Go Back To Principles

I am confused about the meaning of "go back to" here:

"The treatment of the worker in this approach goes back to the principles of scientific management "

According to a few dictionaries, "go back to" could mean "has existed since", which implies that "go back to" should be followed by a time phrase. So is the example wrong? Or is there a hidden technical definition for "go back to"?

    Re: Go Back To Principles

It means "follows the principles of".

Your other meaning is "goes back to a date in the past".
