Re: Other ways to say really!

"Heavens above" is so old fashioned that you would get a laugh out of it. I put it right up there with "Oh, my sainted aunt!"

It leaves off several that are vulgar, like "No s**t!" (This can also be "I already knew that - so be careful even if you are okay using rude words.)
There are so many ways to express surprise.

    I think I over-use "You're kidding!"
I tend to use "Gracious!" as a very neutral response, which I think it better than "That could only happen to an idiot like you!"
    Oh my!
    Good golly, Miss Molly!
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

#9 does not sound very natural to me. It might sound natural in other variants. but it doesn't sound very BrE to me. I would also add it to the end of #8.

Re: Other ways to say really!

"Is that a fact?" needs a question mark.
I would add "it" to #8 too.
#9 would be OK as "I don't believe it!" but it doesn't sound natural at all as it stands.

    Also (in BrE):

    Well, I never.
    Well, I never did!
Good lord! (Be careful - some will see this is blasphemous/offensive.)
Good god! (Be careful - some will see this is blasphemous/offensive.)
    Blimey.
    Blimey O'Reilly.
    Cor blimey.
Gor blimey. (Rather East End London.)
Well, well, well! (Three holes in the ground! )
    Gadzooks! (Very old-fashioned)
    Holy cow/cr*p/sh*t! (potentially offensive).
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Crikey!
    Well, I'll be *****ed
! (supply your own verb). Sometimes reduced to "Well I'll be!"
Well paint me black and call me the n-word. (not recommended) and variations:

I agree on #9 too. I missed that the first time. "Who'd've thunk it!' is as close as I can come to that one.

If go further than "not recommended". I suggest you forget you ever saw this example. Please do not ever be tempted to use it.

    I am not a teacher.

    And let's not forget 'strewth'.

That one's just for fun; I've never said that in earnest.
