    other than or but

Is it possible to rephrase this sentence

Nothing has been done other than to restore to an earlier date.

    1) Nothing has been done but restore to an earlier date.
    2) Nothing has been done but to restore to an earlier date.
    3) Nothing has been done but restoring to an earlier date.

I suppose 2 might be correct but I am not sure? What do you say?

    Re: other than or but

I think we need to know what it is you're restoring to an earlier date.

My computer system. Shall I give you the parameters of it and the colour of the table it is placed on?

There's no need for sarcasm, Kotfor. You have been around the forum long enough to know that context can make a big difference to whether or not something is correct.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: other than or but

It's a fairly standard phrase for a computer system, but might sound strange in some other contexts. Of the rephrases, #2 is the best, though I prefer the original.

    I am not a teacher.

I don't like any of them myself. Restore needs an object.

    Re: other than or but

That was my point in post #2 Roman.

Stand by for another sarcastic remark from the OP.
