"My friend James usually picks me up when he's got time. And he's already done it tw

I ask my son who's picking him up from the San Francisco International Airport. He replies:

"My friend James usually picks me up when he's got time. And he's already done it twice." VS

"My friend James usually picks me up when he's got time. And he already did it twice"

Why is the present perfect more natural in this situation?

James picked up my son twice in the past, so why do the present perfect fit better here?

See Topic 5 (though I'd suggest you read the whole page if possible).

So, my guess is that this should be under Topic 5.

You don't have to guess. I've told you it's in Topic 5, and you have quoted me telling you so. But if you did guess, you were right!
