"If I had come here earlier or later, we wouldn't have been able to meet up!" -

"If I had come here earlier or later, we wouldn't have been able to meet up!"

I said this to a friend of mine who's in Boston the same time I am, and we didn't find out until right when he called me, so we decide to meet, but haven't met yet. Can this be said?
