Lack of consistency when preparing an exam

Hello, it's been a while since I posted. I've been doing past CPE exams, as I want to take it this year.

My problem is my complete lack of consistency in the marks that I've been getting. I did nine past exams so far, I passed them all -without taking into account the writing and speaking part which, for obvious reasons, I cannot check myself- but my grades range from 60% to 80%.

I wonder if this is normal. I've pasted a picture of my marks below. Thank you.

It's quite a variation, and not that usual, but congratulations on the higher scores- 80% is impressive in a tough exam. It could be that you're falling into some of their traps without realising- what do you do to analyse the ones you got wrong? As they often repeat their traps, a working knowledge of what to expect and look out for can be a great help.

Re: Lack of consistency when preparing an exam

Once I finish a paper I analyze it thoroughly. Extracting every collocation/phrasal verb/phrase/idiom/word that I didn't know. Believe me, these are not things that I put to the side when finished. My theory is that my English education has some holes in it, being practically self-taught, it's been quite haphazard to say the least.
