    Thereafter came... ?

    Hi,

Is it okay to say 'Thereafter came (something).'? For example, can I say 'I got my sea legs on the 4th day of the cruise. Thereafter came the submersible dive.'?

    Thanks!

    Re: Thereafter came... ?

It is grammatically correct but very old fashioned. It would be much more common in AmE to just say "afterwards".

In writing, it's '...on the fourth day of the cruise.'
