I need an opinion about this sentence. I'm trying to improve my creative writing and I'm not sure if this second part of sentence is good and does it makes sense. If you can help me or suggest how to write it better, I would much appreciate it.

'His passion and curiosity for life constantly encourage him to find new possibilities for creative development, which have since his arrival in America taken the course of documentary filmmaking.'

I would break that into two sentences.

His passion and curiosity for life constantly encouraged him to find new possibilities for creative development. Since his arrival in America this has taken him to filming documentaries.

Thank you so much for your response Mike! Just one more question: if I change/add this words, and write it this way- would it be also correct?

'His passion and curiosity for life constantly encouraged him to find new
ideas for creative development.
Since his arrival in America this has taken him into the world of documentaries and publishing.'
