Do you use "make out" when you're talking about kisses

For instance:

There're a lot of teenagers who are making out on the grass in the Central park. That's gross. (I made it up ).

As far as I know "make out" means several things which are quite remote from each other. That's why I'm asking.

It's also called "necking" (a rather old-fashioned term) and my friend from the Midwest said they call it "mashing."
I'm not sure if "snogging" in the UK is the same as "making out" in the US, but I think so.

There are many slang terms for sexual activity. I wouldn't call them "euphamisms" since some of the slang terms are pretty crude and I usually think of a euphamism as giving you a more polite way to describe something that isn't usually polite to talk about. (Like "going to powder your nose" when you really mean "use the toilet.")
