Exclamation remove buckets of snails from the pools...

    What does 'remove' mean?

For one thing, intertidal pools were once some of the most
bountiful reservoirs of marine life on the planet. It’s now difficult
to find a single animal in them, mainly due to poaching and a
lack of education. People remove buckets of snails from the
pools and use them as fishing bait. Or they pour chemicals in
the pools to catch baby octopuses.

    Thanks.

Re: remove buckets of snails from the pools...

But it doesn't make sense. Because if people remove buckets of snails from the pools how can they use them as fishing bait ?
They have to put snails to intertidal to catch the fish that is in the pool ,instead of removing buckets of snails from the pools.

    Hi,
Please note I'm not a teacher nor a native speaker.

It make sense, you might have misunderstood what intertidal pool is. You might read the wiki on tide pool, hope it helps.

    Cheers

Re: remove buckets of snails from the pools...

There are snails in the pools. People with buckets come along, remove snails from the pools and put them in the buckets.
    It means "bucketfuls of snails".
The fish aren't in the intertidal pools. If they were, the people wouldn't have to catch bait - they'd simply put the fish instead of snails into their buckets.
