Student or Learner
I posted a question about these two sentences in my previous post, but I am still having trouble understanding them,
and I couldn't contact the person who answered the question from my previous post, so please help me
understand these two sentence:
"He didn't precisely mean "You will get an F", but that is the implication"
"They do not actually say "you have to pay today" but that is what they mean"
I made a few mistakes in my previous post, but these are the sentences that I am having troubles with.

What exactly is your problem with the sentences? They are similar in theme, and relate to someone saying something which has a hidden meaning (a subtext), that the speaker is explaining to the listener.
What do you think they might mean?
