    Question about two sentences

    Hi ,

I'm not sure whether to use present continuous or past simple in the following sentences:

    1. Iíve read this article in the Daily Mirror the other day about terrorism which was very impressive.

    2. Their motive to kill innocent Americans was because the United States have killed thousands of innocents as well.

I'm also wondering if the last sentence is correct this way?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,
    Laura

    Re: Question about two sentences

Sentence #1 should be "I read this article..." Sentence #2 is correct.

    Re: Question about two sentences

I'm sorry, but I think we should use the past perfect instead of the present perfect in sentece #2.
Their motive kill innocent Americans was ...(it means we're talking about past events)
    Am I wrong?
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.

"United States has killed" in AmE.

Technically you could argue that way. But the implication is that the US hasn't stopped killing innocents.
