a period (or a comma) inside or outside parentheses

I know that we should place a period (or a comma) inside quotation marks in AmE but outside quotation marks in BrE, like

    1. (AmE) I said "Good morning."
    2. (BrE) I said "Good morning".

Does the same go for parenthes? For example,
    3. (AmE) There are some types of cars (A, B, and C,) but I don't like any of them.
    4. (BrE) There are some types of cars (A, B and C), but I don't like any of them.

No. In AmE, that comma would go outside the parentheses.
