    wished + past perfect ?

    Dear teachers,

How would you transform this sentence, please?

He cannot come skiing with them. He has not recovered from the operation.

    a) They wished he would / could come skiing with them, but he hasn't recovered
    from the operation.

    b) They wished he had recovered / would have recovered from the operation so
that he could come skiing with them.

    Thanks,
    Hela

Re: wished + past perfect ?

Two of many possibilities are as follows:

    a) They hoped he could have come skiing with them, but he hasn't recovered from the operation.

    b) They hoped he would have recovered from the operation so that he could have come skiing with them.

Re: wished + past perfect ?

But starting with "They wished", are my 4 possibilities above correct?

    Thank you for your patience.
