    home?

    Hello All,

M: Did you know that the Republic of South Africa is one of the
largest countries in Africa? It is actually home to over 44 million
people, but there is more to South Africa’s population than just
    its size.
HOME is noun or adjective?and, what does that mean?

    Thanks.
But the ten definition is as follow and my sentence doesn't include 'of' preposition, it has 'to' instead:
I think maybe 3 definition is correct. And the context indicates the Africa population not the discovery of it.
    10 the home of something
    a) the place where something was first discovered, made, or developed:
America is the home of baseball.
    b) the place where a plant or animal grows or lives:
India is the home of elephants and tigers.

    town/country

3 [countable, uncountable] the town, district, country, etc. that you come from, or where you are living and that you feel you belong to:
Jamaica is home to over two million people.
