"Cut an interminably long rant short" meaning please?

Could you please explain the term "cut an interminably long rant short by saying that..." meaning for me?
    Thank you all before hand!

    I am not a teacher.

"To cut short" means to stop waffling and to get to the point.

What is being cut short? The interminably long rant. To rant is what you do when you go on at length about something angrily.

What is said should be a concise version of the long rant.
