    'Being' can be a noun — as in 'human being' or part of the verb 'to be', as in 'My brother is being stupid'.

    It can also be a gerund: Being beautiful can sometimes be a disadvantage.
    Also, it can be a participial adjective: John, being the eldest son, inherited his father's farm.
